Collect donations through PayPal and Stripe
Accept Donations with PayPal & Stripe Pro is a WordPress donation extension for sites that need a straightforward way to collect contributions. It lets you place PayPal or Stripe donation buttons where users can find them, including posts, pages, and widget areas. Donors can use a PayPal account or a credit card through Stripe.
The Pro edition is designed for business owners and organizations that need more than one-time donation buttons. Its main addition is support for recurring donations with flexible schedules, including daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly recurrence. You can also configure donations to recur forever and provide a recurring-donation dropdown menu for donors.
Donation buttons for various campaigns
Use the extension’s Button Manager to create donation buttons and generate shortcodes for placement throughout your site. The shortcode-based process makes it possible to add more than one donation button to the same post or page, or to use different buttons across your site.
Each button can be configured separately. Set its language and currency, select a button picture, assign a PayPal account, and choose how the PayPal window opens. You can use one of the available PayPal donation button designs or upload your own donation button image to better match a campaign or website layout.
Amount choices and recurring contributions
The Pro version supports up to 20 amount options in a dropdown menu, compared with the standard 10-option setup described for the base donation functions. This gives donors more preset choices while still allowing you to guide contributions toward useful amounts.
For ongoing fundraising, configure recurring donations by day, week, month, or year. A recurring donation dropdown menu can present these choices to donors, helping you offer scheduled support alongside one-time contributions.
PayPal and Stripe setup
The settings area offers instructions for connecting PayPal and Stripe, including guidance for signing up for an account when needed. It also includes information about PayPal and Stripe Sandbox accounts, so you can test the payment setup with test accounts and fake money before presenting the donation process to the public.
The plugin includes support for 18 languages and 25 currencies. Because language and currency can be set per button, different campaigns can use settings suited to their audiences.
Administration and placement
- View donations in the WordPress admin area.
- Use the dashboard admin widget to view recent sales.
- Insert buttons with the page and post shortcode inserter.
- Display a donation widget for donors.
- Place multiple donation buttons on a post, page, or across the site.
Installation and basic workflow
Install the plugin in WordPress, configure the required values on the settings page, and connect the payment services you intend to use. Open the button page to create a donation button, configure its options, and copy the shortcode it makes. Add that shortcode to the desired post, page, or other supported site location.
Before inviting public donations, use the available Sandbox instructions to check the button and payment flow. Once the setup is ready, publish the donation buttons where visitors can contribute.
