Choose a layout and style

Select Vertical Timeline, Vertical Compact Timeline, Vertical One-Side Timeline, or Horizontal Timeline. Each layout has six or more design styles, including Classic, Modern, and Elegant, plus Light, Dark, and Colorful skins. The horizontal layout is available in Pro; the free version works with vertical timelines.

Set dates, labels, and story details

Order stories from oldest to newest or newest to oldest, and choose a date format. Custom labels can replace dates for process steps or historical periods such as AD and BC. Set colors for individual stories, display a summary or the full description, and align content left, right, or center. Stories can use icons, custom icons or images, or simple dots. Animation effects, pagination, and scrolling navigation help manage how timeline items appear and how users move through them.

Add media and filter stories

Include images, videos, or slideshows in stories. Category filters let visitors sort stories by category, and a blog post timeline can arrange published posts by date. Ajax Load More and pagination provide settings for displaying timelines with many entries.

Create and place timelines

Cool Timeline Pro supports Gutenberg, WPBakery, Bricks Builder, and the Classic Editor. Use the smart shortcode generator to configure a timeline without writing its shortcode by hand, then place it on a page or post. Elementor and Divi require additional plugins for timeline creation.

To set up a timeline, make its stories, choose the layout, skin, design style, ordering, and content options, then add it to a page or post with a supported editor or shortcode. Multiple timelines can keep separate collections, such as company milestones and product updates, apart.
