Media File Renamer Pro

Choose how to rename and organize media

Media File Renamer Pro adds tools for naming and managing a WordPress media library. Review documents one at a time or use filters for Pending, Renamed, and Locked entries to track what needs attention.

Review names and media details

AI Vision analyzes pictures and proposes filename ideas, while smart suggestions let you review and select a name. You can also anonymize files for privacy-focused organization or number them when a sequence suits the collection.

After renaming, metadata synchronization can update a media item's Title, ALT Text, Caption, and Description. Locks help prevent accidental renames, with automatic locking available after manual or automatic renames.

Move files and check compatibility

Bulk directory moves let you reorganize multiple files in one operation. The plugin works with Retina and WebP images, resized images from WordPress 5.3 onward, PDF thumbnails, UTF8 files, and optimized images. It handles various encoding types. Some page builders, including Avia Layout Builder, may limit renaming because of encryption.

Test changes before a larger run

Renaming or moving files can affect references, so back up the website and test an individual file first. Check that page references update correctly; other plugins may interfere. If cached pages display outdated references, clear the cache. The Undo feature can revert filenames if a change causes an issue.

Install and select a workflow

Upload and activate the plugin in WordPress, then review files in the media renaming workspace by status. Try one file before applying AI Vision, suggestions, metadata sync, locks, numbering, anonymization, or bulk moves across a larger library. If you only need a simple field for editing filenames, Phoenix Media Rename is described as a simpler option.
