PDF Ink

PDF Ink is the full version of PDF Ink Lite for WordPress sites that deliver digital files. It applies watermark and protection options to PDF downloads from WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, and Download Monitor. Shortcodes can make PDF download links on any page without an e-commerce extension, and marked or encrypted files can be embedded on a page. PDF Ink also supports inline PDF manipulation on PHP-based websites.

Product rules and page coverage

Apply shared watermark and password settings across PDF files, or assign settings to an individual product or product variation. Choose a starting page, an ending page, every page, odd or even pages, or specified page ranges. These controls can leave a cover unmarked or limit marks to selected parts of a document.

Place multiple watermarks at rotatable positions anywhere on a page. Set their opacity or make them fully hidden. Right-to-left text is supported, and uploaded fonts can be used for stamping. Hooks allow further font customization.

Watermark text and customer details

Watermarks can include a customer's first and last name, email, phone number, business name, address, order number, order paid date, product name, and purchased quantity. Filter hooks can add other customer data.

Text can include selected HTML tags, such as links, bold and italic styling, and text alignment. Font color and style, line wrapping, and forced line breaks provide further formatting control. Watermarks can also use QR codes or other barcodes.

Protection and file handling

PDF Ink supports passwords, anti-copy and anti-print protections, AES encryption, and additional file protection settings. You can keep or add file metadata, edit or add PDF annotations, add embedded streams, and edit outgoing URI links. Website links can be preserved in watermarked PDFs; internal table-of-contents links may not always work.

The plugin can open ZIP files and watermark PDFs inside them, and it can stamp EPUB ebooks with custom text. File settings include keeping stamped copies, reusing stamped files to conserve CPU, and scheduling their deletion.

Setup and testing

Install and activate PDF Ink on a WordPress site using WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, Download Monitor, or shortcode-based download links. Set global watermark and protection rules, then add product or variation-specific settings where needed. Choose page coverage, placement, formatting, and customer data, and use the testing suite in the WordPress admin panel to check the output before offering downloads.
