Pro utilities for shared snippets

  • Custom editor: Edit shortcode content with the block editor or page builder plugins such as Elementor and WPBakery.
  • WPML translation: Translate shortcode content with WPML.
  • Revisions: Use revision support for shortcode content.
  • Locate shortcode: Search posts and pages to find where a particular shortcode is used.
  • Extra footer code: Include additional code in the footer when a shortcode is used on a page.

Create and insert a shortcode

In the Shortcoder administration area, make a shortcode and give it a name. Add the HTML, JavaScript, or CSS, then save it. Insert the shortcode into a supported post or page, for example [sc name="my_shortcode"].

A saved snippet can also use custom parameters. Add a placeholder such as %%id%% to the content, then supply its value when inserting the shortcode, as in [sc name="youtube" id="GrlRADfvjII"]. This lets one snippet handle different values without duplicating its full content.

In the block editor, Shortcoder provides a block and a toolbar button for selecting and inserting created shortcodes inline. The shortcode will work only in a location that works with WordPress shortcodes.

Where it fits

Use shared shortcodes for recurring promotional blocks, embedded code, styled content sections, or scripts. The usage search can help locate placements before you change shared content. Revisions support and WPML translation help with ongoing content management.

To get started, install and activate Shortcoder in WordPress, then add the Pro edition according to its supplied instructions. Create and save a shortcode in the administration area, insert it in a supported location, and review the displayed result.
