Cloud records extend WordPress security oversight
The Security Plugin, Firewall & Malware Scanner with Auto Removal applies security controls in WordPress. premium Cloud security service adds detailed statistics and stores security logs in the CleanTalk Dashboard for up to 45 days.
After the trial period, the add-on continues to provide its functions, including brute-force protection and an action log in the WordPress dashboard. Without the premium service, that log view is limited to the latest 20 entries in 24 hours. The service uses a subscription model with renewal for one year.
Login rules limit repeated account attempts
By default, a failed administrator login triggers a brief delay. The plugin reviews the security audit log hourly and can block an IP address for 24 hours when that address records at least 10 login attempts during the review period. Administrators can set the failed-attempt limit, the time window for counting attempts, and a ban duration from two minutes to 24 hours.
Other login controls include a custom login URL, hiding the default login page, stopping visitor enumeration, and protecting the WordPress login form. Two-factor authentication can be applied to selected user roles. Password-reset and password-change errors can also be configured to avoid revealing whether a login exists.
Firewall and scans check requests and site files
- Apply firewall rules by IP address, network, or country, and use a Web Application Firewall to control unwanted requests.
- Monitor users, pages, IP addresses, countries, and hit counts per page in real time.
- Scan for malware with an automatic cure function and execute daily automatic scans.
- Check installed plugins and themes for vulnerabilities.
- Receive login-event notifications and weekly security reports by email.
Longer log history works with event review
Security records can be reviewed in the CleanTalk Dashboard, where administrators can filter activity by time period, website, event, IP address, or country. Records include the event date, user, action, status, IP address, country, and available details. The 45-day history helps with reviewing login patterns and investigating security events.
