WordPress plugin

WP Offload Media Pro

WP Offload Media Pro copies images, videos, documents, and other documents added through the WordPress media uploader to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage. New files upload to the WordPress server first, then get copied to the selected service. After copying, the plugin replaces each media URL with the storage URL or, when configured, the CDN URL. Image thumbnails are copied too.

How uploads reach remote storage

WP Offload Media Pro copies images, videos, documents, and other documents added through the WordPress media uploader to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage. New files upload to the WordPress server first, then get copied to the selected service. After copying, the plugin replaces each media URL with the storage URL or, when configured, the CDN URL. Image thumbnails are copied too.

Direct uploads to a storage account are not supported. You can enable an option to remove files from the server after they have been copied to the bucket. Configure Amazon CloudFront or another CDN to serve media through its URL. A custom domain can be used when configured with the CDN.

Moving an existing Media Library

The standard process copies new uploads. It does not copy older Media Library files to remote storage or serve them from the bucket. Pro includes an upload tool for existing files, and the Media Library includes controls for offloaded files.

CDN assets and ecommerce integrations

The Assets Pull addon can serve CSS, JavaScript, and font files through CloudFront or another CDN. Pro also includes integrations for WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads, plus priority email support. The free version does not include email support.

Image optimization

WP Offload Media does not include image optimization features. It works with integration with EWWW Image Optimizer, so image optimization remains separate from copying media to remote storage and serving it through a CDN.

Getting started

Install WP Offload Media Pro, choose Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage as the destination, and configure a CDN if you want files delivered through it. For an existing site, use the Pro upload tool to handle the current Media Library. New files can then continue through the WordPress media uploader.
