Manage WordPress code in one dashboard

Code Snippets keeps custom code separate from theme files, so you can create, organise, preview, activate, and deactivate individual snippets from the WordPress dashboard. The base add-on works with PHP and reusable HTML content. PHP snippets can be set to execute everywhere, in the administration area, or on the front end; manually confirmed run-once snippets are available for one-time tasks.

Pro adds CSS and JavaScript snippet types, with integrations for Gutenberg and Elementor. The code editor includes syntax highlighting and code checking. Search, tags, filters, table or card views, and code previews help you manage a growing collection.

Pro editing tools and controls

• AI Agent: Describe the functionality you need, review and refine its proposed plan, then approve code generation. Review generated snippets before activating them.
• Revisions: Compare an earlier version with the current code and restore a previous revision.
• Display conditions: Use a visual editor to set where and when snippets run.
• Blueprints: Generate PHP code for common tasks, including custom post types, taxonomies, shortcodes, options pages, and extra visitor profile fields.
• Role-based permissions: Control who can view, create, edit, or delete snippets.
• Run tracking and insights: See which snippets executed or produced output on the current request. Optional PHP execution-time tracking and advisory checks for potentially risky code patterns are also available. These checks are not a security audit and do not guarantee that code is safe.

Cloud, portability, and recovery

Browse community-shared snippets from inside the plugin. Pro Cloud processes include a personal library, synchronisation, deployment to connected websites, and drift reporting when website and Cloud copies differ. These workflows require the relevant Pro access and a connected Cloud account. Local PHP and HTML snippets do not require a Cloud account.

Export individual snippets or use bulk actions to move several at once, then import the export file on another site. PHP snippets can also be exported as a PHP file with their names and descriptions in comments. Snippets are stored separately from the active theme, so changing themes or updating WordPress does not remove them. Code that depends on a particular theme or plugin may still need attention if that dependency changes.

Safe Mode can prevent snippets from executing while you investigate a snippet-related failure. Review code before activation, use code you trust, and keep a current site backup. If you enable Complete Uninstall before deleting the plugin, its stored data is removed; export snippets you want to keep first.

Getting started

Install and activate Code Snippets, open the Snippets screen, then add a snippet with its code and description. Choose the supported code type and any available run controls, review the code, and activate it when ready. Pro capabilities require the relevant Pro access; configure Cloud workflows from the available plugin screens after connecting an account.
