Prepare find-and-replace rules for text or code from WordPress themes and extensions. The extension applies them as a page is generated, before it reaches the browser, leaving the original documents unchanged.

Choose a match and replacement

Use an exact match for a direct text change, or regular expressions when the text needs pattern matching. Common uses include translating text from another plugin, changing wording on product or shopping cart pages, removing theme footer text, and making selected on-page SEO adjustments.

Set where rules apply

Pro includes filtering options to narrow when a replacement runs. It can also apply changes to WordPress admin pages as well as front-end output. Settings can be exported and imported to reuse a configuration.

Rules are stored as an array in one record in the wp_options table, regardless of how many rules you create. Fewer than 50 rules should generally have no noticeable performance impact; caching can help when you use more.

Install and verify a rule

Install Real-Time Find and Replace in WordPress and activate the plugin. Add a rule, choose exact matching or regex, set any filters, and check the generated page. Export options when you need to reuse them.

An invalid regex rule can result in a blank page. Start with a simple pattern, confirm the replacement, then expand it gradually so errors are easier to spot.
