WP Edit Pro

WP Edit Pro is the paid edition of WP Edit. It adds controls for arranging every row of the WordPress editor toolbar, setting button arrangements by user role, installing across a WordPress network, and creating reusable custom widgets.

Editor buttons and formatting

Drag and drop buttons to organize the editor rows. WP Edit's available utilities include inserting pictures, media, YouTube videos, and clip art, plus creating tables through a graphical interface and adjusting cell borders and background colors. Other buttons include subscript, superscript, emoticons, search and replace, an HTML editor, and preview.

WP Edit also gives access to shortcodes available in the WordPress environment, including shortcodes for columns and magazine-style layouts. Its broader editing tools support external media such as YouTube and Vimeo, along with adjustments to fonts, styles, colors, and sizes. The extension can also add an editor to excerpt areas and profile descriptions, allow shortcodes in excerpts and widget areas, highlight admin posts and pages by status, and import or export extension options.

Button arrangements by role

Set various button arrangements for different user roles, giving contributors editor controls suited to their tasks. WP Edit Pro's drag-and-drop controls cover all toolbar rows.

Network installation and reusable widgets

WP Edit Pro includes network installation functionality and is described as WP Network Ready. Its Extreme Custom Widget Builder lets you make widgets in a similar way to posts or pages, then insert them into widget areas or the content editor.

Compatibility

The WP Edit listing says the plugin has not been tested with the latest three major WordPress releases and may have compatibility issues with recent versions.
