Font Awesome Pro

Use the Font Awesome extension to add Free or Pro icons to WordPress pages, posts, and templates. Choose the latest release or a specific release, then insert icons through the block editor, classic editor shortcodes, or standard Font Awesome HTML.

Choose a Kit or the CDN

A Font Awesome Kit can provide icons, including the latest Duotone styles and custom icons from Pro Kits. To use Pro icons in the Icon Chooser, create a Kit, choose Pro icons in its options, and enter the API Token from your Font Awesome account in the extension settings.

The plugin also supports the Font Awesome CDN, which supports Version 5 icons only. Before adding icons with shortcodes or HTML through the CDN, add your site domain to the allowed domains in the CDN settings.

Insert icons in WordPress

Block editor

Select the Font Awesome Icon block and choose “Choose Icon” to open the Icon Chooser. To add an icon inline with text, select Font Awesome in the format toolbar. Inline icons require WordPress 6.3 or later. In the chooser, search by icon name, category, or keyword, then select a family and style.

Classic editor

Add an icon to a text area with a shortcode containing its name and, optionally, a style prefix. Leave off the fa- part of the icon name. Without a style prefix, the shortcode uses the Classic Solid style. Basic HTML with standard Font Awesome syntax is also supported.

Check compatibility and version conflicts

Automatic compatibility supports Font Awesome Version 4 syntax for websites or plugins that still use it. The Conflict Detection Scanner can find Font Awesome versions loaded by other plugins or themes, which may cause icons to show unexpectedly or create technical issues.

Configure the plugin

Install and enable the plugin, then open its settings and choose an icon source. For a Pro Kit, select Pro icons in the Kit settings and add the account API Token to the plugin. Once configured, insert icons using the editor method that fits your content.
